Will vaccines end the pandemic?

The end of the Covid pandemic is not anytime soon – Larry Brilliant

⚠️ Famed epidemiologist Larry Brilliant, a member of the World Health Organization team that helped eradicate smallpox, said the delta variant of coronavirus is “maybe the most contagious virus” ever.

The problem is only 15% of the world population has received a vaccine and 100 countries have vaccinated less than 5% of the population. This leaves room for the development of many more variants.

The current success story is Denmark. They dropped most COVID protocols this week, as they reached a 75% fully vaccination level for persons aged 12 years and above. 86% of the entire population had received at least one dose. The rest of the world is optimistically cautious, that this may one day be the case, in all countries.

When this will take place is still some way away until there’s equal distribution of vaccines and high uptake globally. Until then we need to embrace a multi layered approach to reduce COVID exposure.
